Magestorm (Boardgame)

Magestorm is a new board game series that brings the role of magic in a fantasy battle to the highest levels, with players being able to control at the same time one mage and one army. Created by the Italian game designer Piero Cioni and published by Nexus Games, Magestorm will be available in four languages – English, Italian, German (in partnership with Heidelberger) and Spanish (with Devir). The first boxed set will be released in october, presenting two armies, four mages and 10 different scenarios. Future expansions will present additional armies and new, powerful mages.

Game system
Magestorm is a scenario-based game, and each scenario is inspired to events from the history of the world of Aleen, describing a battle and the composition of the armies, the mages used, how to set up the battlefield, the duration of the game in rounds and victory conditions – conquering a number of objectives, passing through the opponent army with the minimum number of casualties, escorting a caravan through the battlefield, and so on. The 10 scenarios included in the basic set of Magestorm will feature growing difficult levels.

I don’t know about you but I see armies that look alike Battlelore, I can see Banner flags like Battlelore, I can see tiles representing rivers, landsides and bridges just like Battlelore. Maybe, Magestorm is totally different than any other game we have played – i realy don’t know – but so far- enough with the game cloning.
