RiotGod – RiotGod
I was a bit disappointed by the latest Monster Magnet album (although based on subsequent listens I may have been a bit harsh in my judgement). This however, is more like it. Riotgod are Jim Baglino and Bob Pantella (a.k.a the rhythm section from Monster Magnet), along with guitarist Garrett Sweeny and singer Mark Sunshine. They sound like a filthier Monster Magnet or Led Zeppelin if they hailed from the Midwest and had an obsession with garage instead of the blues. True, Sunshine’s vocals sound uncannily like Chris Cornell and John Garcia, but that’s not exactly a complaint. There is not enough cannabis raisin- encrusted rock ‘n’ roll at the moment and RiotGod are great at what they do. Give them a shot…
