Torche – Songs for Singles
Meanderthal, Torche’s spectacular previous album led the music press to label them as doom pop and other silly names- to account for the mixture of heavy guitars and sugary melodies. Since then they lost Juan Montoya, one of their guitarists. Songs for Singles is a 20- minute EP, packaged like a love letter in a white envelope and shows that little has changed. The songs are shorter and faster perhaps, but they still offer titanic riffs with irresistible choruses. I can’t wait for their next proper album. Recommended.
