Motley Crue vs Guns ‘n’ Roses (Album Wars #02)
In my taste, “Dr Feelgood” by Motley Crue and “Appetite For Destruction” by Guns n’ Roses are the best and most complete in every way (production, lyrics etc) albums by these two great bands. What is your opinion on the subject?
Dr Feelgood (1989) tracklist:
1. “T.nT. (Terror ‘n Tinseltown)”
2. “Dr. Feelgood”
3. “Slice of Your Pie”
4. “Rattlesnake Shake”
5. “Kickstart My Heart”
6. “Without You”
7. “Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)”
8. “Sticky Sweet”
9. “She Goes Down”
10. “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)”
11. “Time for Change”
Appetite For Destruction (1987) tracklist:
1. “Welcome to the Jungle” Axl Rose Slash 4:34
2. “It’s So Easy”
3. “Nightrain”
4. “Out ta Get Me”
5. “Mr. Brownstone”
6. “Paradise City”
7. “My Michelle”
8. “Think About You”
9. “Sweet Child o’ Mine”
10. “You’re Crazy”
11. “Anything Goes”
12. “Rocket Queen”

“Dr Feelgood” is overproduced and is just a follow up ( a very good one indeed ) to previous great albums by Motley Crue. “Appettite” is raw and rough and loud and inspired. So, it gets my vote.

Appetite leaves Dr Feelgood in the dust. Appetite feels like its from a band that are hanging everything on the line as they may never get another record but Motley Crue were already huge and Feelgood feels like it has come from a band that don’t have as much to prove
