They never were among my favorite acts, although I have to admit that they were far from an average band. The sad thing with Bang Tango was that despite having what needed to succeed they kinda end up in the scene a little bit to late (1987, debut album 1989). On the other hand they couldn’t have known.
The story is more or less the same. They called it a day sometime in ’95 they reformed in ’96, they split up again in ’98, they reformed in ’99 and bla bla bla – while in the meantime they released a bunch of decent albums.
Anyway, here we are now and “Pistol Whipped In The Bible Belt” is a fact. This is Bang Tango’s 6th album without counting the Greatest Hits, Collections and Live albums. The sound is more or less the same funky, groovy, bluesy, sleazy, metal sound that made Bang Tango recognizable. You are not going to lose your head listening to this one but you are going to spend some time on it. There are some really good songs here , like “Suck It Up”, “Our Way” “Bring On The World”, “Have You Seen Her” that deserve some of your attention. Joe Leste’s hoarse voice is a blend of the finest bourbon and the blues – the man is an incredible singer – the kind you really enjoy listening to.
The album is self produced and self distributed, it has an amazing production and for some weird reason occupies my mp3 player for the 3rd month in a row.
