Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regroovedis a tribute album to KISS released sometime in 1994. The album features a variety of artists, each one giving a little something to each song covered.

The album starts with “Deuce” performed by Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder, a cover that is decent but without giving something new to the song.

“Hard Lack Woman” is performed by country singer Garth Brooks with the help of KISS themselves as his band. The track is definitely one of the best covers on this album and I dare to say that it might be better than the original too.

“She” performed by Anthrax is one of the surprises on this album. Anthrax, made a super cover that is both heavier and close to the original.

American rock band Gin Blossoms covered the hymn “Christine Sixteen” with decency but without giving the song a new sparkle.

“Rock n Roll All Nite” is among KISS’s top ten songs of all time. Toad The Wet Sprocket transformed it to a great ballad making another original.

“Calling Dr. Love” was performed by one-off band Shandi’s Addiction (nothing to do with Jane’s Addictions). Although this cover didn’t impressed me that much, the line up of the band is more than impressing – made up of vocalist Maynard James Keenan (Tool), guitarist Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave), bassist Billy Gould (Faith No More), and drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave).

Dinosaur Jr. is one the best alternative bands of all time. They took “Goin’ Blind” they darkened it even more and made one the heaviest and best covers on this tribute.

Same with “Detroit Rock City” by the Mighty Mighty Bostones which is heavier and close to the original.

Lemonheads on “Plaster Caster” and Extreme on “Strutter” are the two covers that didn’t make an impression to my ears. But the instrumental/neo classical cover of “Black Diamond” by Japanese piano artist Yoshiki Hayashi (X Japan) takes the Oscar on this tribute with his 7 minutes, unique, unparalleled, unrepeatable cover.

Do I need to say that this release is a must for all KISS fans?

Trackilist:
1. “Deuce” Lenny Kravitz/Stevie Wonder

I was thinking to start this review by saying that I am not such a fan of girl bands and that rock n roll should be played only by men, but then again I thought what the fuck I am thinking, I always liked the Runaways, Girlschool, Hole and L7. So, all that stuff about “girls don’t play rock n roll” it’s just bullshit.

Crucified Barbara is a four piece act from Sweden and “In Distortion We Trust” is their debut album originally released in 2005. Their sound is clearly influenced by all the aforementioned female bands/acts while of course Motorhead should be placed on top of their influence list.

This debut album delivers a full pack of raw and dirty rock n roll blended with, punk aggressiveness, sleazy attitude and metal heaviness while front(wo)man, Mia Coldheart vocal chords brings in mind a documentary I once saw on Discovery Channel where a Lionesses roar almost forced me to shit my pants.

My best moments: In Distortion We Trust, Losing The Game, Motorfucker, Bad Hangover

This is a buy or die album!

Tracklist:

1. Play Me Hard
2. In Distortion We Trust
3. Losing The Game
4. Motorfucker
5. I Need A Cowboy From Hell
6. My Heart Is Black
7. Hide ‘Em All
8. Going Down
9. I Wet Myself
10. Rock’n’Roll Bachelor
11. Bad Hangover

Maximum is/was one of those bands that have been hit by the Grunge tsunami in the nineties. They were set on releasing their album in the late eighties but their label (Enigma Records) had gone bankrupt. Some years later (2002), a German label (Sunset) released their one and only album “Just For Kicks”.

Maximum, were born in Boston, US and they play sleaze in the “LA” style. Their sound is very similar to POISSON, meaning is full of party, booze, sexy pop style songs for endless ass shaking and posing. In my opinion their way better than POISSON – and their guitar sound is a bit heavier. If “Just For Kicks” had been released earlier in the eighties, Maximum, should have been big.

Label: Drunkabilly Records
Released: 2008

Nigel Lewis was one of the original members of the The Meteors, the masterminds behind the psychobilly scene and sound, and what we have here is a full length album of another one of his side bands.

The album rolls far away from the psycho-billy tunes that Nigel and his former history in the scene would have promised, and what comes to our ears is a mixture of rockabilly with country and a hint of garage songs, all put together in an unsuccessful way. Few songs reach the minimum standards (considering the Nigel Lewis “brand name”) and as for the lyrics the word- boring -speaks the truth.

Failure explosion: The Rockabilly track which consists of an acoustic guitar(??) and the bass among with some awful lyrics!

Overall a disc that lacks feeling and atmosphere , aka boring.

Tracklist:
01. Ladies & Gentlemen, Attention Please …
02. I Want to Be Someone
03. Footsteps
04. Ride
05. Sweet Pandora And Me
06. Hotel Room in New Orleans
07. Walking On The Beach
08. Destination Blue
09. The Demon And The Angel
10. Rockabilly
11. Itchy Feelings

Thumbs up for the Batz!

The Brazilian trio, innovates not only as an exclusive lady band in a guy- dominated scene but mainly for the freshness and quality of their work.

True rockabilly-psychobilly tunes back from the 80s with great melodies and kick ass vocals! The girls truly know the sound, they keep it plain and groovy while the vocals add spirit and attitude to the songs.

Love the instrumental Riding Through The Devil’s Hill ,as well as , Women in white, Psychomad Mary, Wide awake, Witches Stomp.

A credit to the production as well for the sound result is what to be expected, although I would prefer an extra touch of gain at the guitars.

Purple leopars and a bunch of bats! Go As Diabatz!

Tracklist:

Swedish artist Regina Lund, is a singer, song writer and actress. She is one of those cases of people that can be described as multi-talented. Since the early 70′s, she has participated in more than 40 films and TV series, while as a singer she has released five albums counting “Living in Airports” her most recent release.

“Return” is her fourth official release. Her music on this album can be described as something in between rock and modern pop while some trip hop influences make their appearance. The atmosphere is very theatrical, quite dark with a few moments of optimism. Lyrics are all about desire, lust, love, and peace while Regina’s essential voice puts the listener to a state of euphoria.

This is not the album that you are going to carry along in your mp3 player but it’s definitely the one to put on a cold, rainy winter day. This music could be easily be the soundtrack of drama film with a bittersweet ending.

So, you ‘re desperately into this new nice hair-baby face-my mom drives me to school-metalcore. We can’t convince otherwise can we? OK, but do us a favor check Terakai’s EP “The Last Stand” released back in 2010 (but avoid bands like <del>Asking Alexandria. )</del> This five piece from the UK, despite their handsomeness, their cute nice cut fingernails make some serious music. Apart from the “intro”, four tracks are more than enough to fully understand that this band are no joke. They are fast, their music is sharp and their guitars are heavy (yeap, they do have guitar solos and great ones). Brutal vocals are above average while clean ones despite being too pop are quite amusing.

This is a damn good “ep” from a band that is going to keep us busy in the future.

One thing that I like with this webzine is that when we don’t know something we are not ashamed to admit it. So, I have to admit that I had no idea about the existence of the Ghecko Brothers. The band has shared the stage with names like Nashville Pussy, Zeke, Mad Sin among others, so you kinda get an idea of what’s happenin’ here. Dirty, raunchy, sleazy, speedy rock n roll that can make your ears bleed. “Demolition Of The Rehabilitation” , the bands second album officially released sometime in 2005 by Drunkabilly Records is a hot rod bulldozer ready to demolish your house. Lemmy and Mororhead must be some kind of mentors for this guys, with their guitars in times breaking the speed of sound, while on the background the rockabilly guitars are setting their own party. Should I say that this album is a buy or die case? I guess not.

Avoid to play loud if prego’s are around…he he!

Five long years have past since their self-titled debut, released via Atlantic and produced by Mike Clink (Guns’N’Roses, Metallica). Now, five years later Glitterati, return with a second album and a killer one. “Are You One Of Us”, is an album that can’t be missed, is another one bullet in our gun used for our long struggle to brink Glam back. Their music is high on energy, filled with stadium-like choruses and catchy riffs. Their influences definitely come from the Us sleaze sounds of the eighties, modernized of course to fit to our days.Paul Gautrey’s unique voice takes the whole thing to a higher level making him one of best voices in the genre while gives Glitterati the sexiness they deserve. “Are You One Of Us” has no fillers inside despite my personal picks “Can’t Say No”, “You Can Be Cruel” or “To Many Girls” you wanna hear this album over and over again.

Released:2010
Label: DR2

Tracklist:
1. Right From The Start
2. Fucks Me Up
3. Can’t Say No
6. Your Idea
7. Overnight Superstar
8. You Can Be So Cruel
9. Shanty

The best thing when you have good friends, (apart from breaking your balls with disagreements) is that when they go out to buy some records always keep you up to date for hot deals. The same happened with “Megadeth’s Warchest Box Set”, a friend bought it for 19$ at a local store and the first thing he did is to call us to run and get a piece. This box set, was originally released in 2007 and until now the price in Megadeths store was 60$. I have also checked ebay and the lowest price I have found was 45$. Anyway, we are talking about almost stealing here….but, Ssshhh….don’t tell anyone!

So, this set contains four CDs of music and one DVD of highlights from 1992 concert recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Disc four of the set is a 75-minute set from the 1990 “Clash of the Titans” Tour at Wembley Stadium.

The rest three CD’s feature tracks from the bands whole catalog. On those cd’s can be found 53 tracks, original recordings, demos plus some rare live recordings. The box has the look of an ammo belt, the 36-page booklet is full of bio notes, discography info and a few nice photos.

Generally this box is a treasure chest!!!
